Open Call for Digital Champions – DOCOMOMO Germany Fellowship within FOMA Forgotten Masterpieces project

On behalf of Docomomo Germany, we are pleased to share the open call for 2 Fellowships for “Digital Champions”, which will be awarded to students and young professionals in architecture related fields. The 6 months long fellowship program involves investigation, documentation and representation of modernist buildings in Germany.
The main goals of the Forgotten Masterpieces (FOMA) project are:

  • to develop a new approach to share knowledge about architecture via digital means;
  • to create an open online archive to share architecture knowledge for the free collaboration of experts and architecture enthusiasts on the topic of modern architecture;
  • to build and expand the digital skills of cultural operators on the basis of best practices extracted from the research on “Forgotten Masterpieces” of twentieth century architecture in Europe;
  • to document these “Forgotten Masterpieces” of European Modern Architecture and highlight their importance for today’s built environment.
    One of the FOMA’s objectives is to create a pan-European network of

“Digital Champions“ in architecture research through the FOMA Fellowship Program. The Fellowship program focuses on development of written and visual material on modern buildings and sites , through scientific writing, photography and digital publishing using different media (text, photo, film and internet), with online tutoring and in-person activities undertaken over the period. This will form part of a proposed online platform coordinated by Architectuul and the Docomomo Germany database and website, allowing for exchange with the professional actors and society. The selected “Digital Champions” will be made familiar with digital strategies and become “ambassadors” of the digital transformation in documenting architecture.
