17th International DOCOMOMO Conference kicked off!

After long and intensive preparations, the 17^th International DOCOMOMO Conference in Valencia kicked off with the student workshop. It is for the 9^th time in a row that the young generation contributes to the IDC by means of such a workshop. After a warm welcome by the local organisers Pasqual Herrero, Fernando Usó and Maite Palomares on Wednesday evening at the Cheste Workers University near the city of Valencia the 30 students from Belgium, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Turkey and Ukraine started their work on Thursday morning.

Divided over 3 groups, the students work on the modern, brutalist complex of Cheste Workers University, designed by Fernando Moreno Barberá. Finding new possible uses, defining its values and making redesign proposals is the main aim of the workshop. From Monday September 6 onwards, the results will be on view at the conference venue at UPV.
