Invitation to participate in a digital archive survey

This survey is part of a doctoral research project carried out by Elena Geria, PhD student in Architecture at the University of Genoa, under the supervision of Prof. Giovanna Franco and Dr. Roberta Lucentini. Elena is currently a guest PhD at TU Delft and is collaborating with Docomomo International on the topic of digitization and archiving.

The project aims to promote the knowledge and valorization of the contemporary architectural heritage, contributing to the development of a digital archive documenting the most important public works built in Genoa from 1945 to the present.

A key objective is to explore innovative approaches to digital documentation management, ensuring broad accessibility and long-term preservation through a centralized online platform. This will serve both the academic community and the general public, fostering greater awareness and engagement with contemporary architecture.

This phase of the research includes a comparative analysis of leading international archives of contemporary architecture to identify best practices in digital preservation, access, and copyright management. The goal is to define a management model for the new digital archive that adopts standards enabling national and international interoperability, while ensuring public access to digitized materials through a university institute.
