International Study Days: Teaching Preservation

DOCOMOMO International is pleased to share the announcement of International Study Days: Teaching Preservation, set to be held 16-17 september 2022. Since its creation in 2007, the Laboratory for Techniques and the Preservation of Modern Architecture (TSAM) of the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) has constituted a unique achievement in Europe in the field of teaching the preservation of 20th century architecture. Providing both theoretical courses and the teaching of the project, the TSAM has contributed greatly to disseminating preservation as a discipline in its own right, both in Switzerland and abroad. It is to review this unique pedagogical achievement and establish an inventory that the Laboratory is holding two study days in Lausanne, bringing together those (architects, engineers, landscapists, historians of architecture, etc.) who have contributed to this teaching at the EPFL and shared in its development. The first day will be devoted exclusively to discussions organised around four round tables, the second day being devoted to architectural field trips in the Lake Geneva region. These days will be the occasion for launching a publication in the collection of the Cahiers du TSAM on this topic. Detailed program can be found below:
