Lecture: Eileen Gray – a Grey experience
31st May 2018, ETH Zurich Honggerberg, Zurich, Switzerland
DATE: 31/5/2018
Within the scope of the workshop «Gender Research in Architecture. Methodologies for the Flora Ruchat-Roncati Project» ETH Zurich, Honggerberg – Departement Architektur invites you to join the lecture «Eileen Gray – a Grey experience» by Jennifer Goff, Thursday 31st May 2018, by 18h, at Siemens Auditorium HIT E 51, ETH Zurich Honggerberg.

“The lecture will look at why Gray was omitted from the canon of modern architecture and design and why she was forgotten about until the latter part of her life. Even after her rediscovery – It will question whether she is being valued as the talented and philosophical designer and architect that she was, or is she valued more as a commodity whose work achieves record prices at auction.
Dr Jennifer Goff is the curator of the Eileen Gray Collection at the National Museum of Ireland with the Decorative Arts and design division.  Goff has done extensive research on Eileen Gray and has recently published a book on the designer, Eileen Gray: Her Work and Her World. She was a Fulbright Scholar 2016-17, and has lectured and written extensively on Irish design and architecture internationally. Currently Goff is writing for the accompanying catalogue for the forthcoming exhibition on Eileen Gray at the Bard Graduate Center in New York, scheduled to open in late 2019.” In SNF Flora Ruchat-Roncati project website

The lecture will be followed by a drink.
